MEDIA MAKEUP

Makeup products and brushes laid on a tabletop, ready to be used in a JCI class studio in Vancouver, BC.

This 7-month, full-time program offers students comprehensive training in makeup artistry, placing a special emphasis on skills for film, television, and digital makeup. The curriculum spans from beauty and glamour makeup to special effects and prosthetics, ensuring a well-rounded education for any aspiring professional makeup artist.

This program has been approved by the Private Training Institutions Regulatory Unit (PTIRU) of the Ministry of Post-Secondary Education and Future Skills.

  • Program length: 7 months (includes 2 weeks breaks and stat holidays)
    520 hours/26 weeks of in-class education

    Class size: 16 students max per cohort

  • Graduates of JCI’s Media Makeup Program go on to employment in a variety of roles.

    A lifelong artist, Michael Fels, turned his interest from drawing and painting faces to actually painting on faces in 2014 when he attended the JCI Institute. Now, Michael loves to connect with each client so they can leave the chair feeling confident and fabulous.

    From Prison Break to A Series of Unfortunate Events to See, JCI Makeup Artistry Grad Bree-Anna Lehto has worked on some of the most notorious Films & TV Shows in the past five years.

    Since graduating from JCI Institute in 2013, Bree has worked non-stop in what she loves – FX Makeup. Today, we had the pleasure to interview her and ask about her experience in the industry, as well as her most recent project with Lindala Schminken FX & Stephen King’s β€˜The Stand’.
